Transportation From Port Canaveral To Disney World

Here are some of the best ways to get from Port Canaveral to Disney World.

I’ll break down the pricing and some of the pros and cons of each option including safety and special perks.

1. Disney Cruise Line Transfer

If you’re taking a Disney Cruise, you can book a Disney Cruise Line transfer from Port Canaveral to Disney World.

These shuttles only drop off at Disney Resort hotels, partner hotels on Disney property, and the Orlando Airport (MCO).

As of the time of writing this, it costs $45 per person one way.

Children 2 and under are free though.

If you’re traveling alone or as a couple, this is actually one of the cheaper options.

This is the option I recommend first because this is operated by Disney.

So if there are any delays or problems with the shuttle or with the cruise line, it’s all being handled by the same company.

For example, if the shuttle is running late getting you to Port Canaveral, the ship won’t leave without you because they are in direct communication with their Disney shuttle transfers.

Once you start bringing in 3rd parties, you increase your risk if things go wrong.

2. Car Rental

If you’re more of a self-reliant type of person, you can always rent a car from Port Canaveral and drop it off at the Car Care Center outside of Magic Kingdom.

Usually this costs about $100 to have the car for 1 day to get from point a to point b.

But of course there are a lot of things that can affect this price like special events going on at Disney World, decrease in car rental inventory in general, the type of car you need, etc.

If you’re a rewards member with any specific car rental company, that can help bring down the cost of your car rental.

This option can be cheaper than the Disney Cruise Line shuttle if you have 3 or more people traveling in your group.

There is always the risk that there are no rental cars available, which happens every so often, but it’s not the norm.

3. Shuttles

If you’d still like to take a shuttle from Port Canaveral to Disney World, but don’t want to splurge on the Disney shuttle, there are a ton of 3rd party shuttle providers.

Mears is the most popular one for the Orlando area.

Their reviews are somewhat mixed, but mostly positive.

Some other popular shuttle providers are Port Canaveral Connection and Happy Limousine.

Port Canaveral Connection can take you from any Port Canaveral cruise line terminal to anywhere at Disney World or the Orlando airport.

Happy Limousine just goes between the Disney Cruise Line terminal at Port Canaveral and the Orlando airport.

4. Private Transportation

If you’d prefer a private transfer so you’re not riding with other people all the way from Port Canaveral to Disney World, there are so many options for that as well.

This can be faster than shuttles since most shuttles will have to make multiple stops around Disney World and you could be the last stop.

5. Rideshare

Uber and Lyft are the most popular rideshare options.

I personally don’t have a preference for one over the other.

I just check the rates and see which one is cheaper, assuming both would have the same wait time.

For the most part, it takes at least 45 minutes to get from Port Canaveral to the Orlando airport.

For Disney World, add another 15 minutes or so to that timeframe.

Uber

The typical price of an Uber from Port Canaveral to Disney World starts at $70.

When demand is high, the prices will go higher.

Additionally, if you go with a service like Uber Black, the price will be even higher.

These are high end black vehicles driven only by drivers with top ratings.

So it’s a more luxurious experience and a little bit safer.

Lyft

The typical price for Lyft is also about $70 and this can fluctuate with demand.

One difference with Lyft though is that they have a partnership with Disney.

Through the Lyft app you can request what’s called a “Minnie Van”.

Minnie Van

Minnie Vans are operated by Disney cast members.

They only go around Disney property.

Back in 2020, they began offering Minnie Van service to Port Canaveral for guests going on Disney cruises.

I have not seen any updated information since then, but their website says you have to book it through Disney Cruise Line directly and not in the Lyft app.

The last price update I’ve seen is that it is $249 each way.

Minnie Vans are also subject to price surges due to demand, but it’s a great alternative to the Disney shuttles for many reasons.

If you don’t want to ride with others, if you don’t want to stop at multiple hotels along the way, or if you need special assistance for booster seats, wheelchairs, or ECVs.

The Wrap-Up: Transportation From Port Canaveral To Disney World

My advice is to factor in this transportation cost when you’re considering the affordability of a Disney Cruise.

As someone that used to sell guided vacations, I would book everything directly through the company as much as possible.

This way, if anything goes wrong the company can help you and the company is held accountable rather than you just being stranded without help.

If I didn’t have my own car for some reason, I would personally choose the Disney Cruise Line shuttle transfer since it is just $45 per person each way.

But if I was traveling with a group of 6 people, I would take the Minnie Van, because then it is cheaper per person ($249 divided by 6 people is $41.50 per person).

By the way, 6 people is in the maximum number of people in a Minnie Van.
